IXION
IXION was developed by Bulwark Studios and published by Kasedo Games and released on December 7th, 2022, and is available on Steam for $34.99. IXION is a strategy and simulation game in the vein of Sim City, Star Trek: Armada, and StarCraft. Where one is required to gather resources and build facilities to maintain your city, armada, or troops.
In IXION, you are on board a space station, building your resources in the search of a suitable planet to colonize after the Earth is destroyed. Graphically IXION looks fine and I was playing this game in 4K while being able to maintain an average of about 60fps. The game has a top-down view much like other games in this particular genre and you must maintain and keep track of your resources while you build facilities and harvest elements to continue to build up your facilities to accomplish each of your objectives.
Gameplay is simple and not too hard to pick up as it is mostly point and click and if you have played Sim City or the Sims then you can pick up this game pretty easily. I only had trouble when trying to delete roads when trying to streamline my first area of the space station. I, however, am admittedly not into these games on the whole and the only game I played in this genre for any amount of time was Star Trek: Armada, but I am a pretty big Trekkie.
Overall, I didn’t care for the game itself, but I’m not a fan of the genre. Now, will I give this another go? Probably, just to see if I can do better with my resource management and keep my crew from dying due to my inability to create a functioning infrastructure. However, if you love the games I mentioned above then you are probably going to like this game and I do recommend you give this one a go. I honestly never had the patience for these games, even though I keep trying to get into them, but again sounding like a broken record, I’m not a fan even though I keep hoping. With that being said I will give this a good rating as you that are fans will probably love it.
